Eden of the East – Episode 11

Well, we’ve come to the end of the rainbow, and this ending is the purest of gold. Seriously, this is one of the greatest endings I’ve seen in any anime ever (partially because of the incredible last song). I wish to spoil nothing for you guys, so I’ll just leave you all with this:

Oops, spoiled a little. Bye.

P.S. this marks my first ever full season as both an editor for Koharubi and a fansub editor in general. It’s been nice working with you faggots. Let’s make some magic happen this summer.

Eden of the East – Episode 01

title

Hello, and welcome to Eden of the East. I’m Flash Gordon, and I’ll be your host throughout this potentially great series. Let’s dig right in, shall we?

Enter: Morimi Saki, a japanese woman who has just arrived in Washington D.C. She had originally been traveling with a group on a graduation trip, but she wanted to see the White House so badly that she separated herself from them and went her own route without notice. Not much else is revealed about her in this episode (unless you really want me to post everything that was in her passport). In the above scene, Saki has just mustered up the courage to throw a coin into the fountain, which, apparently, was the purpose of her trip to the White House. Unfortunately, the coin falls well short of its destination, and two police officers, located across the street behind her, catch her in the act. They begin to approach her, and then something truly unexpected happens:

nakedguy

A naked man. A naked man waving a gun. A naked man waving a gun whose name is a mystery, even to himself. Is he a terrorist? Is he a gun-toting nudist? Is it cold out? Stay tuned and find out. What we do know, however, is that he has some sort of tie to some secret organization (of which we know next to nothing).

The mystery aspect of this episode is somewhat well-played. There are also a number of fun scenes involving Mystery Man (of the many passports he’s apparently been given in the past, he’s chosen Takizawa Akira, so I’ll call him ‘Akira’ for now) and his “Johnny,” but I won’t spoil them for you. There’s even a hint of flirtation near the end, but that’s standard in an anime about a woman and a gun-toting nudist/terrorist.

Well, that about wraps up this post. I’ll leave you all with this one fact of life:

It was his Johnny that got them out of a jam.

It was his Johnny that got them out of a jam.

P.S. both the OP and the ED (not to mention the background music throughout the episode) are incredible. Please do not skip them. If you do, I will find you.
