Durarara!! 01
Well, guys, we finally released it. Took long enough, I know, but we wanted to do it right. Things are always a bit slower at the beginning of the season, but we’ll get back into our groove and continue to try bringing quality in a decent amount of time. Now that I’ve rambled on much too long, without further ado, the torrent.
Enjoy. ~rintaun

nigga nigga nigga nigga. Japanese ppl are so racist.
not to be rude or anything, but I am not impressed at all, took a while and cant even get a great ts and the timing seemed a little bit weird at times. what happened to the old days when there was more quality to the releases. It took you more than a week to get it released and can’t even blame it on the kara guy (if you even have one). sadly to say its almost at the same level as gg and way below frostii. have to say that at least you have a better font than all of them.
I approve this message.
@chica: Hi. I don’t really give a damn if you think we’re slow. That’s all. Carry on.
nice u got that done, however is there be any MKV re-encodes or perhaps a XviD, just wanna know ?
y would u want a mkv reencode for
yeah, i would like to know if there will be a Xvid release? thanks.
@rintaun: if you guys are going to be slower at least have more quality to them, that’s all I am saying. And you cannot say your releases are not degrading, just look at the first releases this group has made e.g. first couple eps of bakemonogatari, aoi hana, eden of the east and even cencoroll.
Actually we don’t want to be slower…
Cats.
@chica: The first couple eps of Bakemonogatari? Are you serious? Either you’re trolling or you’re a horrible judge of quality, because I’ve been over those scripts again recently and they’re absolutely horrible. Either way, I think you’ve pretty much just discredited whatever argument you were attempting to make.
If you’d like to try again, what exactly did you find wrong with Durarara!! 01? Was it the lack of pretty karaoke effects on the opening and ending? Or what?
@rintaun: yes, first couple of eps had bad editing (maybe tl but i wouldn’t know since i don’t know jap) but it was understandable for a show of that caliber, but what i meant was that the timing, encode and especially the typeset were exceptionally well done.
and lol at karaoke, i could give a damn about that, the timing was inconsistent and the ts was meh, and your encode was as good as the rest. You probably don’t notice them because you worry more about the tl since thats your job, but everything else… Don’t just focus on the tl, everything else matters probably not as much as the tl but it still matters.
@chica: Well, there are some things I agree with in your latest comment, I must admit. Yeah, if you cut out the translation and editing in Bakemonogatari, it’s a pretty quality relase. Unfortunately, if you do that, you also don’t have a release. Another thing I agree with is that the TL is the most important part of a fansub. I mean — isn’t that the entire point?
Anyway, you’ll note how you just, in the same comment, both admitted the TL was the most important part and excluded yourself from being able to comment on it — that is to say, excluded yourself from being able to comment on the most important part of quality in a release: the script.
Anyway, that said, there’s one thing I have to disagree with that you’d said earlier. Our release is “way below frostii?” That’s actually pretty funny. Frostii might do everything perfectly when it comes to timing and typesetting, but it doesn’t really matter if your script is so heavily edited that the lines don’t really mean what the characters are saying, anymore. That’s what *I* see in the Frostii release. It sounds to me like you’re just throwing out popular names without knowing what you’re talking about (I mean, you said it, not me).
Anyway, yeah, I’ll admit our release was a bit slow this time, but that’s about it.
I throw them out because they are respected, and what everyone else notices the most is not the tl but everything else. If viewers knew the language they wouldn’t be watching the releases. So the stuff that you notice in the tl, most of the viewers don’t. Regarding the slowness, it doesn’t really matter how slow you are as long as you bring quality releases, not just quality tls which this group probably has.
@chica: Well, anyway, why don’t we move away from useless, vague comments about how we suck and are slow and instead get into some concretes. After all, we do aim for quality, and so if we’ve made errors, I’d certainly like to correct them in future releases. So again I humbly request that you explain to me what exactly you found to be wrong with Durarara!! 01.
Oh yeah, and to everyone else that was commenting before, no, there’s not going to be an xvid version.
Any status update about Bakemono 12? (and the BD ver?)
I told you that the timing was inconsistent, and the typeset was ok.

The 2nd one has no lead-in but the 3rd one does. You might not notice them but they are still there. That is what i meant by being inconsistent. I can give out more inconsistencies and find different stuff but I’m not your qcer, you should hire more. The TS isnt as good as your previous shows, seems very basic but it gets the job done.
“Anyway, you’ll note how you just, in the same comment, both admitted the TL was the most important part and excluded yourself from being able to comment on it — that is to say, excluded yourself from being able to comment on the most important part of quality in a release: the script.”
As you can see the only people that can comment on that are the people that know jap, in which case they wouldn’t be watching these releases.
@chica: Now I know you’re trolling, because all three of those lines seem to me to have about the same amount of lead-in (i.e. none). I personally prefer lead-in over lead-out, and I will be talking to our timer about that, but if you see a significant difference in the lead-in times to those lines, you’re just being pretentious. Now, don’t get me wrong, I actually do agree with you: errors that you can’t see are still errors. However, you’re also being a bit of a hypocrite, because apparently, these timing errors that *I* can’t see (and by extension, likely most viewers can’t see, either) matter, but the translation errors *you* can’t see (again, which most viewers can’t either) don’t.
One reason the TS is more “basic” than it used to be is because we decided to try doing fully softsubbed episodes, which means both that we can’t use AFX signs anymore and that we have to steer clear of the heavier ASS tags, such as \t.
Thanks for your input, though. We’re always looking for ways to improve.
@rintaun: you obviously don’t know what a lead-in is, it has them on some sentences, Saying it has no lead-in, means that you (rintaun) obviously can’t see them.
If it sounds like I was trolling, i didn’t mean to. I was just giving you some input which you are taking it the wrong way.
@chica: Just to make everything perfectly clear you do have a point about the lead-in, it is indeed inconsistent. The thing is that the timer either didn’t give it any or didn’t give enough, thus I just simply added some “again” to at least fix the lines that aren’t joined. Well, now I’ve been thinking about it and probably it would have been better to shift back the timing like 120ms and give that much lead-out, but since I never had to fix things like this before it just didn’t come to mind. So this is why there are places where there is a normal lead-in and other (joined) lines don’t. Blame me and the other timer. This being said I really don’t know what’s your problem with the typesetting. I srsly don’t think that the first ep needed AFX or anything and as rintaun has said we want to do this 100% softsubbed. I don’t want the video lagging the crap out of ppls comp either… So that’s it. Btw I timed the 2nd ep from scratch.
Well, since the thread is sort of hi-jacked I might as well chip in as well. Any update on episode 12 of bakamonogatari? I’d like to finish this one pretty please.
thanks zwill. So why does everything need to be softsubbed? It may be a stupid question but I would still like to know.
Where is Bakemonogatari 12 ???
Not in this post.
So you all can stop asking about Bakemonogatari in posts that don’t involve Bakemonogatari.
@chica: Well, let’s see… erm, hardsubbing is gay and since we didn’t want karaokes it would be p pointless to hardsub anything. I really don’t think that by adding 2 signs a \t(\bord\blur) change instead of a \fad would have increased our release’s quality and you’re talking about this much(iirc the groups you mentioned didn’t even bother whit those signs). But at least this way we can save our encoder to make a workraw and he can put that effort into the final encode not to mention he doesn’t have to re-encode if I mess up a sign :3
Only thing that I saw wrong is that “Dota-chin” was subbed as “Tota-chin”. The katakana “to” in the chat has the dakuten marks on it so should be read as “do” instead.
@chica: Zwill’s reason of “hardsubbing is gay” may be a bit vague, so I will elaborate, since I’m really the driving force behind the switch to softsub. Many groups recently have switched to a mostly-softsub format, i.e. they hardsub karaoke and signs, and softsub the actual script. As far as I have been able to gather, the general reason given for this is because people want to be able to turn off the subs, perhaps to use for AMVs or something? I never really quite got it, but it seemed to me that if even *one thing* was hardsubbed, it really defeated the purpose of softsubbing anything. However, for a long time I used this as an argument to simply hardsub everything. This changed later on when I realized how much softsubbing everything, including karaoke and signs, simplified the process of creating a release. So, that’s it in a (perhaps slightly oversized) nutshell.
@Nelligrand: omg, there is. ;A; I’M going to cry myself to sleep tonight because I missed such an obvious mistake. Thanks a lot for pointing it out, though! And rest assured that this will be corrected in any future episodes (and in episode 01 in our batch release).
Finally, before I go to bed, Bakemonogatari 12 is coming. Probably. If I have any say in the matter (and I do), the episode will be released eventually, hopefully sooner rather than later. It’s a bit complicated, but it seems that the episode is cursed. We’ve gone through like a million translators on this episode alone — all of them seem to go missing before they complete the script and give it to us, never to be heard from again (no, I’m not kidding (well, okay, it’s more like 5 or 6 translators than a million, but still)). It’s just been given to another translator, so keep your fingers crossed that this one makes it. I mean, it’s not a super hard episode, many others of Bake were much harder.
hello, i am really glad that you guys are subbing this show. i was wondering if there will be kanji at all in the OP and ED?
Thanks for the update rintaun. I’ll be eagerly awaiting …. and crossing my fingers.
Indeed.
And, on a totally other subject; sup with Winter Sonata?
I believe it was dropped, but I wasn’t really involved with that project, so I could be wrong.
@matokosama: No, there won’t. If you’d like, I can send you the kanji, though.
@rintaun: yes please. can i ask why you stopped putting the kanji?
@matokosama: Well, we came to the conclusion that essentially nobody that’s watching the release can read the kanji anyway, so normally, they’re only added to show off whatever karaoke effects the group made for the show. Since we got rid of superspecial karaoke effects, we figured we’d do away with the (otherwise pointless) kanji, as well. Also, check your inbox.
@rintaun: thanks.
@rintaun: by the way, i just want you to know i appreciated the nice kanji that you guys added into your subs.
Ah, I see. Well, how about Darker than Black? xD
@chica: LMAO, its pointless.
@Zwill: <3
@Wesley: Come on, man, you’re killing me. As far as I’m aware, it hasn’t technically been dropped. However, also as far as I’m aware, no work has progressed on it, either.
Now, that’s enough of that. You’ll hear about our other projects when we have news on them.
man ain’t there a xdcc list
i want Sora no Manimani and i can’t seem to find the list
can you help?
@SivSoe: learn 2 triggers
@rintaun Haha, sorry man, just wondering y’know. Thanks for the answers though, haha.
